Williams Mullen is pleased to announce that Lauren Pennington has joined the firm as an associate in our Corporate Section and Yongjoo Kwon has joined the firm as an associate in our Construction Practice. Ms. Pennington will be based in the Virginia Beach office and will focus on general corporate matters, while Mr. Kwon will be based in the Tysons office and focus on construction and commercial litigation.
Ms. Pennington came to Williams Mullen from a leading defense contractor where she facilitated the development and submission of competitive large-scale, multimillion-dollar information technology proposals. In this role, she gained significant experience in analyzing compliance obligations that arise under federal statutes and various Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Department of Defense FAR Supplement contract clauses.
She earned her Juris Doctor degree, summa cum laude, from the University of Richmond School of Law. During law school, she served as the manuscripts editor for the University of Richmond Law Review and also won the CALI Award for Excellence.
Ms. Pennington earned her Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude, in international affairs and minored in Arabic at James Madison University.
Mr. Kwon focuses his practice on construction litigation, to include construction contracts, government contracts, claims, litigation and alternative forms of dispute resolution. Yongjoo’s background in architectural and engineering studies and his field experience as a construction manager on major construction projects superbly qualify him to advise clients on matters related to construction issues and disputes.
Mr. Kwon has assisted with various stages of construction litigation, including discovery, complex claims, settlement and trial. He has prepared and negotiated construction contracts and advised clients with respect to bond claims and disputes.
Mr. Kwon earned his Juris Doctor degree from The George Washington University Law School. He also interned with Chief Administrative Judge Ronnie A. Yoder of the United States Department of Transportation and Magistrate Judge Deborah A. Robinson of the United States District Court for the District of Columbia.
He graduated from the renowned Yonsei University in Seoul, Korea with a degree in architectural engineering.
